TX DAY!

A 30 minute live chat magazine show!

As part of my second year studies at Birmingham City University I was part of a team who created a 30 minute live chat show entitled 'In The Mix'. Our brief was to create a Graham Norton style chat show that would be aired on Channel 4 in the evening.

During the production process for this project I undertook two main roles; set designer and vision mixer. I threw myself into both, wanting to gain the best possible experience and help to create the best show we could.

I worked with our art designer and a small team to design and create our set and then attended each day of production (for my own production group and the other two working alongside us) in order to build and maintain the set ready for each live show. The set itself looked impressive both on and off camera and I am thrilled wit the way it turned out! As our set did keep collapsing it was a very stressful experience but one I thoroughly enjoyed and am very proud of the product I helped create. In the future, should I be working with sets I would ensure they were made to be more robust so as not to have the same issues we had in this project.

Our TX Day ran fairly smoothly and I felt I worked well alongside the director to ensure we aired on time and there were no mistakes in our final product. After some rehearsal I felt competent in my role as vision mixer and was happy with the way the edit turned out. Vision mixing is a role I love and would most definitely want to do more with in the future.

"You were one of the most dependable members of the team and demonstrated a natural ability for production work, well done."

I love every part of working in Live TV and hope I get to do more as I continue my media journey.
